During the next three months, we will work to learn more about and actually do Temple work. We have created a list of fun, entertaining, and spiritually uplifting activities that any and all can do, no matter how old you are, or feel. (SEE LIST). For each activity that you accomplish, you will be able to put an item on our Ward Tree, and watch the tree fill with Temples.
The item you get to place on the tree will depend upon your ward group as follows:
PRIMARY: A TRIANGLE
YOUNG WOMEN: A SQUARE
YOUNG MEN: A CIRCLE
RELIEF SOCIETY: A PENTAGON
ELDER’S QUORUM: A HEART (of course)
So, for example, for each TFH Temple activity accomplished by a primary aged ward member, they would get to place a triangle on the tree; or if a young woman goes and does baptisms for the dead, they would get to place a square on the tree for the session. (Not one per baptism). Again, it will be fun to see our existing tree fill with Temples as items get placed on the tree. This will also allow us to see how each group is doing and compare our progress in a very supportive, “non-competitive” way.
During this event, the focus will be on going to and learning about the Temple. Family History is always important and a key component in temple work, but this event is about the Temple, the Temple and some more Temple. This Temple focus should carry on throughout our individual, our family, our class, and our Ward activities each month. This emphasis should serve as a part of, or even a simple reminder during, our lessons and activities, not necessarily as a replacement. We want to encourage thoughts of the Temple and Temple work throughout our activity and incorporate, involve, and remind each other as we carry on our normal lessons, studies, and responsibilities.
By doing this, we hope to increase our love for the Temple, as we see our Ward Tree fill with temples right before our eyes. This will also allow us to see, not who is winning, but rather who is the most “TFH Templetacular”. Good luck, and we hope you have fun.
